We need your ideas and suggestions to help us make a proposal that is genuinely community-owned. During 2018, we collected views on a National Park for Galloway. The response was very positive with over 80% in favour of Galloway becoming a National Park.

We still want to hear from you so, if you have more you want to contribute, get in touch on the contact form below and have your say! If you would like a reply to your email please include your name and address at the end of your message.

CONFERENCE

Our Conference in 2018, was a huge success and provided a resounding endorsement for a National Park in Galloway, attracting almost 300 delegates at GG’s Yard, near Gatehouse of Fleet.

The event was introduced by Dame Barbara Kelly who emphasised that this is a critical moment for the region. A series of speakers took part including three groups of young people.  GNPA’s efforts to reach out to people through public meetings, events, social media and its own online survey had revealed overwhelming support from people of all ages and in all walks of life.

The conference paid tribute to Sir Alex Fergusson, who was an active proponent of the Park. MSPs Finlay Carson, Colin Smyth and Emma Harper attended alongside councillors and representatives of a wide variety of local interests and organisations.

The event received widespread media coverage on ITV Border News on the BBC and in many newspapers.
